YouTube sensation Zee Avi is making waves in the global music scene, thanks to the video-sharing website. The 25-year-old artist was discovered by Patrick Keeler of the rock group The Raconteurs, after posting her tunes on YouTube. Zee eventually landed a record deal with Brushfire Records, the label partially owned by singer Jack Johnson. 　　Zee made her mark with "Bitter Heart" from her self-titled debut album, after reaching Gold status in Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia. As to her sophomore studio album, "ghostbird", it all started in her own Brooklyn kitchen.Words and rhythms start to fill up her sheet music, and Zee penned "ghostbird" in New York, where she is currently residing. After putting some great pieces together, Zee embarks on a journey to Asia, back to her roots, for her 2011 Homecoming Tour.She recently made a stop in Taiwan, for her concert to promote her newest hits from "ghostbird." 　　Zee, who is learning to perfect her Mandarin, talks about her inspirations of behind her latest tracks.With the setting described, Zee puts out melancholy songs tinged with optimism to lighten up our days. And is her music her own medicine as well? Having guitar or ukulele in hand, Zee is content with where she is right now. Zee will be belting out tracks from both of her albums as well as cover songs on her Homecoming Tour, with her next showcase in Indonesia tomorrow.
