MOTC CHANGES HIGHWAY TOLL PLAN
The Ministry of Transportation and Communications announced on Thursday that toll stations on national highways will be closed from midnight to 7 AM during the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival holidays,
a reversal of its earlier decision to keep the toll stations open for 24 hours.
The MOTC's original plan to cancel the toll-free period was based on concerns over the principle of equality for motorists, and had won the support of many experts.
However, it proved to be highly unpopular with the public, some of whom claimed that it would make traffic congestion during the day even worse, leading the authorities to change their mind.
