WHO IS MORE AT RISK?
According to the latest study released, 87 percent of employees in Taiwan do overtime. The survey also indicates that those who are involved in the construction and logistics industries, as well as in public sectors, are at higher risk of death from overwork.
According to a recent survey, people working in construction, logistics and the public sectors are at risk of death from overwork since people in these occupations are either overweight or suffer from high blood pressure, high blood lipid and high blood sugar levels.
The study showed that 87 percent of the workers surveyed regularly put in overtime.
Long working hours and the high blood pressure would increase the risk of death from overwork.
Council for Labor Affairs says it would enhance the effort of health check-up for labors and review article 84.1 of the Labor Standards Act, which stipulates job responsibility system.
The recent deaths from overwork occurred on labor workers in their 30's.
The health authorities remind the public to control their waist size, blood pressure and blood sugar level to minimize the health risks.
