BEST KARASUMI ON THE ISLAND
For a taste of the island's best karasumi, you might have to pay a visit to Yunlin county, where a famous supplier of the food has twice won the top prize at a national karasumi contest in consecutive years. But the award-winning product doesn't come cheap, costing about 5,000 NT dollars per piece.
22 mullet roe products selected from across the country are roasted and processed according to the rules.
10 judges are to choose the best and the most delicious mullet roes that determine which mullet roes percolate their taste buds.

One piece of the champion mullet roe starts at 5,000 NTD.
This is certainly a happy news for the champion
But for buyers, they are witnessing prices double once the result comes out.
Since the production volume this year is less than last year, it's estimated that there would be 490 pieces weighing betwen 5 to 7 taels.
Only 140 pieces are over 7 taels.
Therefore, the market estimates the prices would exceed 5,000 NTD for each piece.
