Breakthrough in Speech Recognition
Here's some good news for those who find typing a chore. A retired professor at National Chung-Hsing University has successfully developed an advanced system of multilingual speech recognition, which is marked by a high accuracy of identification even for speakers with heavy accents.
The professor speaks with a strong accent.
But the language identification system can show the correct words within two seconds.
What if it's a foreign tourist, speaking Chinese and Japanese at the same time?
The system can also tackle problems such as people speaking with a lisp or foreigners speaking Chinese.
Unlike traditional voice input method, the system uses numerical combination and compares input data with probabilities, this substantially raises the accuracy and effiency level.
A math professor at National Chung-Hsing University spent five years in developing the system, which overcomes the shortcomings of traditional voice identification system, which can only identify single sound and vocabulary.
The system can be a great aid to help people with mild oral disabilities to control their auxiliary tool with voice or assist travellers to communicate in foreign countries.
