Taiwanese pitcher Wang Chien-ming is set to return to the MLB after signing with the Washington Nationals on Friday for a one year, one million-dollar deal with incentives up to an additional four millions. The Washington Nationals had been planning on re-signing Wang Chien-ming through the minor leagues after releasing him earlier this month, but ended up offering him a new contract when the Texas Rangers expressed interest in signing the pitcher.

The one-year, $1 million contract includes performance incentives of up to $4 million. Wang thanked the Nationals for their confidence in him, and says that he hopes to return next April or May.

A look at the forums on the Nationals' official website showed mostly positive posts and comments, with one fan saying that he'd been waiting for Wang's return and was happy that Wang was coming back to the team.

Another conjectured that Wang would be able to win 8-12 games if he is able to fully rehabilitate from his injury.

It has been nearly two years since Wang last stepped on the field, and he hopes to return to the pitcher's mound and prove his worth as soon as possible.
