Exaggerated Claims?
With the prices of gas and fuel continue to be on the rise, there are many products out there that claim to be energy efficient, and can help people save money on gas bills. However, according to the tests conducted by the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection, the claims are exaggerated and the product could increase the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.
The energy-saving net that is claimed to reduce gas consumption has been selling quite well in local markets.
But a recent government inspection found that none of the models sold on the market pass the five tests, including carbon monoxide and actual burning efficiency.
Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection under the Ministry of Economic Affairs warns consumers that energy-saving effect cannot be seen with naked eyes.
Even if some products are claimed to have passed SGS inspection or have been granted patent, the bureau believes it is much safer to not use the net in the kitchen.
