Lifelike Noodle Paintings
What do you expect from a bowl of beef noodles that costs 25,000 NT dollars? Recently a college student in Hsinchu managed to sell her beef noodles at such an outrageous price, but her customer couldn't even get a bite of the costly delicacy.
Many people find it hard to believe that this bowl of beef noodle soup was painted rather than cooked. National Hsinchu University of Education student Lin Ting-ting has loved beef noodle soup since she was a child.
She recently began observing bowls of beef noodle soup to learn the shapes and forms of noodles, beef, and vegetables.
From there, she began crafting noodles from transparent resin and using oil paint to produce layer upon layer of noodles and soup. Because the bowls are extremely time-consuming to create, she often loses herself in the process and misses meals.
It takes Lin one month to complete a bowl, and an art gallery recently purchased seven bowls for 25,000 NT.
Lin, whose specialties also include sweet tofu, says that she will next be taking on common banquet dishes, including plain noodles, sesame oil chicken, and "Buddha Jumps over the Wall" to promote Taiwanese cuisine.
