Operation "save the Mayor"
To a related news, as Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin's campaign crisis continues, more and more people are coming to his rescue this week, including President Ma Ying-jeou, and the candidate's own 88-year-old mother.
Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-pin, pinned with the blame over the Xinsheng Overpass and overpricing of items in the Flora Expo, is getting help from his party.
President Ma, on the evening of September 15, held a lunchbox (bentou) meeting at the Presidential Palace to share their personal experiences from the recent situations.
Hau's 88-year-old mother, Kuo Yuan-hua, also came out in public to support her son and to simulaneous reminesce about Hau's father's voyage to Taiwan.
Meanwhile, Hau's opponent, Su Tseng-chang grabbed the opportunity to discuss his "green book" agenda of increasing the greenery and vegetation in Taipei City.
Su's timing is suspicious as it coincides with the Flora Expo.
Some wonder if he is deliberately dueling Hau over the issue.
Su stresses that the success of turning Taipei city greener will depend on the determination and attitude of the leader.
Su also promises that he only seeks to fulfill his duties and will not run for the 2012 presidential election.
