A visually impaired college student who major in Law served as intern in a courthouse this summer. Despite his handicap, the student's perseverance and passion have won the respect of many co-workers.

Sitting in the judge's seat, law student of Tunghai University Lin Tseh-wei, who is a court intern during summer, has always pictured himself as a judge.

Fond of the Civil Law and the Administrative Law, Lin has dreamed a career as judge in the future, hoping he can become the first blind judge in Taiwan, following the example of a visually impaired judge in Germany.

But the court internship requires him to read a lot of files.

If he is to become a judge or court clerk in the future, he would not have an assistant to read to him like now.

The college junior interns at the court for three weeks and is more determined to pursue a law career, despite the obstacles presented to visually challenged students in the legal system.

Born without sight, Lin depends on his acute sense of hearing and touch to search for his rights to work in the legal profession.
