PITT, CLOONEY STAR IN "PROP 8" PLAY
Brad Pitt and George Clooney headlined a star-studded cast of Hollywood actors in a reading of "8," a play about California's Proposition 8 Saturday night.
(March 3, 2012) The reading was an account of the Federal District court trial in Perry v Schwarzenegger, the case filed by the American Foundation for Equal Rights to overturn proposition 8, California Marriage Protection Act, which states "only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California." Besides, Clooney and Pitt, the cast for the play included actor John C. Reilly, Jaime Lee Curtis and Jane Lynch.
Jane Lynch: "I hope that there are some people who tuned in because they're interested in seeing George Clooney, they're interested in seeing Brad Pitt be a judge and in the process got moved and now understand it's a big part of the civil rights puzzle that needs to be in place." The reading was streamed live on YouTube.
