BANDERAS SHOWS HIS DARK SIDE
In addition to dubbing in the recent top-earning "Puss in Boots", Spanish actor Antonio Banderas, is also presenting the film, "The Skin I Live In," which is his latest collaboration with award-winning film director, Pedro Almodovar.
In "The Skin I Live In," Banderas plays a brilliant plastic surgeon, who is haunted by past tragedies involving his wife and daughter. After creating a type of synthetic skin that can withstand any kind of damage, he embarks on a journey to avenge his wife and daughter.
The star finds it difficult to work with Pedro Almodovar, but saying that it is definitely something positive.
"He demands very much from the actors and every department in the movie because he doesn't like you work in a state of comfortability." "I knew him from the eighties, and that's the way we worked at the time. You just clinch your teeth and you say here you go on his rollercoaster. I know the final result; the very least is going to be very interesting."
His co-star Elana Anaya was impressed by the screenplay, written by Almodovar.
"I thought it was very talented the way he wrote the script, the way he builds up the places where the information is given little by little and keeps you asking what's going on there."
When speaking of what the film has done to his life, Banderas said that his haunting performance stayed with him after the shooting ended, and scared his wife.
"Last night she said: 'Now I understand a certain behavior you're having lately. You still have the remains of what the character has done to you.' I don't know. I don't' think so. I really don't think so. But what it is true is that this character opened the possibilities of understanding myself in front of a camera."
After such a heavy role, Banderas has the perfect antidote."I'm go and do "Puss N' Boots," Banderas said. "Four months of this thing was just enough." "Puss in Boots" has been topping the North America box office for two weeks, raking in more than 11.6 million US dollars worldwide.
