The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation has recently released a smartphone application, called Child ID, for parents who want to keep information about their children handy in case of an emergency. With the application, parents can create separate entries for each child, such as photos, height, weight and other descriptive details. If a child disappears, a parent can quickly send the information from their phone to the police. The application is also linked to 911 or the national missing children hotline, while enabling parents to transmit the data about a lost child over the Internet. Children's information is stored in the devices memory only. Child ID is currently free download for Apple iPhone and iPod Touch owners, and the FBI said they will release other versions of the app for other phones later.
