FINAL POTTER FILM BREAKS RECORD
Based on the estimates of Warner Brothers, the eighth and final installment of the Harry Potter film series, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 grossed in $168.5 million U.S. dollars on its opening weekend in North America, surpassing The Dark Knight at $158.4 million, to become the BIGGEST opening weekend in box office history.
Part 2 also took in $475.6 million U.S. dollars worldwide on its opening weekend, breaking its own record of $394 U.S. million dollars set by its six installment "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" in 2009. This fantasy flick will be the franchise's first potential billion-dollar worldwide hit. The closest film to ever reach that number, is the first one, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" which took in $974.8 million U.S. dollars worldwide 10 years ago.
