A GOOD SAMARITAN RICHLY REWARDED
One man's honest gesture is greatly rewarded.
After finding a bag containing 500,000 NT dollars in cash in the backseat of his cab, the driver took it in to the police. Upon getting his belonging back, the passenger was so thankful that he insisted to give the taxi driver 200,000 NT dollars as a token of gratitude.
It was just an ordinary morning for the taxi driver, Lee Ming-teh, who was cleaning up his vehicle before another day of work.
Surprisingly, he found a black bag in the backseat, figuring that it was probably left by the previous passenger.
He opened it and discovered that there was 500,000 NT dollars in it, as well as a chequebook, and a Mercedes-Benz car key.
Mr. Lee said that he believed that the person who lost it would be worried, so he brought it to the police station right away.
On the other hand, Mr. Yu, the man who lost his belonging, was so upset that he couldn't sleep the previous night.
Although he had already reported the situation to the authorities, he didn't think that his money would be returned.
But to his amazement, Mr. Yu received a phone call from the police the next morning, who gave him some good news.
Mr. Yu rushed to the police station and was happy to see that everything was intact.
To thank the honest man, Mr. Yu gave a red envelope containing 200,000 NT dollars to Mr. Lee, and insisted that he must take it.
Everyone in the police station was amazed to see the generous reward.
According to the law, an individual can claim 30 percent of the lost money as a reward.
But in this case, the amount Mr. Yu offered was way more than that.
Mr. Yu said that he is thankful and is encouraging more people to do the same.
