Driver Lost Life to Save Others
The tragic incident that occurred on the Suhua Highway took many lives, including Hong Tai Tour Agency's driver, Tsai Chi-ming. According to the 20 Chinese tourists who were traveling with him, they said that the driver risked his life to save them. His death has been confirmed after his body parts were found in the area. The mainlanders said, they would never forget his great sacrifice.
This is the footage caught when Hong Tai Travel Agency took Chinese Tourists to shop at a souvenir store in Alisan.
It is also the last picture of driver Tsai Chi-ming, who just finished parking the bus.
After getting off the bus, he turned his head several times to check whether the bus was parked appropriately.
After going into the teahouse, he greeted people there and enjoyed some alone time drinking tea.
Afterward, he droved to the Suhua Highway.
Suddenly a huge rain hit the mountainous area of Suhua Highway.
And at 112.8 kilometer mark, huge rocks and landslide slammed right into the left side of the tour bus.
Tsai pulled the brake.
Together with tour leader Tien Huan, they assisted 20 passengers to break the window and leave.
But another huge landslide collapsed, leaving no time for Tsai and Tien to leave.
They were trapped in the bus, which was washed down the mountain.
Surviving tourists witnessed the moment but can't do anything about it.
Now they've left Taiwan safely.
They can't forget how close they were to death and will forever appreciate Tsai for his sacrifice.
