Luxury Cars in Demand
Worth 4.1 billion NT dollars, more than a thousand luxury vehicles have arrived at the Taichung Harbor last month, marking the highest number of imported cars for the past five years.
This side of the harbor has upwards of 1,000 high-end automobiles.
It is really quite a site at the total value is more than 4.1 billion NT$, a record in the past five years.
90% of them are the much loved BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
One grey auto is a Porsche, which has an explosive engine.
Businesses say that these 1,344 luxury auto imports have nearly all been pre-ordered by customers.
Even if you had the money, there are many that you could not be able to order as some face severe shortages.
Still, this many autos indicate that the economy seems to be on the verge of improving.
After clearing customs, the National Treasury will stand to benefit with 1.4 billion NT$ in tariff and customs revenue.
The Taichung Harbor Bureau is optimistic that December will still see a number of vehicles that still need to be imported.
This means that the total figure for imported cars for the full year should break 15,000.
