Taxation Rules Should Be Updated
According to a recent survey, up to 440,000 taxpayers in Taiwan have been involved in taxation disputes. Many believe the reason is that some of the tax laws today are simply outdated. And several civil groups have requested the government to review the current tax system and make necessary amendments.
Miss Huang used to work in the accounting department of a ready wear garment company who received a notice from the National Tax Administration saying that the company received unified receipt from a made up company and is subject to fines.
The company was even threatened by the Administration to confess in writing of the alleged wrong doings or the fine would be five times more.
The company later paid over a million NT dollars and was forced to shut down.
Huang is still unemployed until now.
There are many cases similar to the above mentioned.
According to the Taxpayers right Commission staff, there were 440,000 people who had to deal with tax disputes in the past.
Some legislators believe that the current taxation laws are outdated while the government should update the reward system for taxation staff to prevent them from accusing taxpayers in order to get more cash rewards.
Many civil groups urges the government to update the current taxation laws and regulations to insure the public would willingly pay taxes.
