Gaming with Sony
Expect to see more and more exciting video games coming from Taiwanese designers. An affiliate of Sony Corporation recently set up a training center in Kaohsiung, where 40 talented students from around the island are honing their skills in the art of game development.
Sony subsidiary Sony Computer Entertainment Taiwan recently established an incubation center at Kaohsiung's Pier-2 Art Center.
The company is currently training 40 local PS3 game designers.
Hualien native and freelance sub-contractor Wu Ke-chun has a portfolio filled with his own designs, sketches, and 2D and 3D animations.
He says that the opportunity to work with upstream research and development designers will help improve the quality of his own work, and will also allow him to make contacts in the global gaming industry.
Sony is looking for designers with potential, and all of the trainees say that they intend to take full advantage of the opportunity.
According to SCET President Yasuda Tetsuhiko, games will be designed, developed, tested, and manufactured at the incubation center.
