National Prayer Breakfast
The 10th National Prayer Breakfast Meeting of Taiwan was held on Saturday, during which President Ma Ying-jeou apologized for the government's inadequacy in flood prevention, and expressed his wish for national harmony and cross-strait peace.
Nearly 100 representatives from churches around the island held an early centennial celebration on Saturday and prayed for a just, peaceful, and loving Taiwan.
During the nation's 10th national prayer breakfast meeting, President Ma Ying-jeou made an early centennial wish for a harmonious society and cross-strait peace.
A number of the participants called for an end to political tension between the ruling and opposition parties in 2011 and the creation of a peaceful, happy Taiwan.
Control Yuan President Wang Chien-shien and former Premier Chang Chun-hsiung read Bible verses during the meeting.
During the breakfast, Ma discussed the "White Terror" era and expressed his desire for ethnic harmony.
The president also talked about the government and military's efforts in aiding flood victims over the past two summers, and apologized for mistakes that occurred along the way.
In closing, Ma promised that the government would work even harder to benefit Taiwan.
