Folkgames Fest Concludes
After taking a break for two years, the Yilan International Children's Folklore and Folkgames Festival has roped in over 580,000 tourists over the past month and a half, marking the highest number of visiting tourists ever.
Performing groups from at home and abroad performed the folk song of Yilan, "Train Passing", a symbol of the festival's reach across borders.
Yilan County Commissioner Lin Tsong-hsien showed up in a student's uniform to announce the successful completion of this year's event, which has drawn more than 580,000 visitors.
Lin pledged to make the event bigger and more international next year.
On the last day of the summer festival, more than 20,000 visitors flooded the venue to enjoy all kinds of water activities and they sure had a lot of fun.
According to the organizer, this year's Yilan International Children's Folklore and Folkgames Festival, which is resumed after two years of cancellation, didn't reach the target of 600,000 visitors.
But the visitorship has been the third highest since its launch a decade ago and the event has certainly contributed to the growth of local businesses.
