Aging Runways at Cks Airport
The National Auditing Office is attacking the fact that the Taoyuan international airport expansion process is lagging behind in progress while its service quality is dropping too.
In addition, the northern and southern runways have exceeded the normal usage limit by more than 10 years.
Taoyuan airport expansion project is lacking behind in progress and is under attack recently by the National Auditing Office for the airport is dropping continuously in recent surveys of international airport service rankings.
The northern and southern runways are too old to operate. The north runway has been around for 31 years since 1979 and the southern runway opened 26 years ago in 1984.
The Civil Aeronautic administration said that, there is a limited time of usage for the runways, and annually, budgets have been allocated for repairs, and they are indeed in need to be renovated
The Administration poited out that, the airport expansion plan is in the design stage already with the earliest construction date set at the second half of 2011.
Currently, the terminal one of Taoyuan international Airport is under renovation, in the future the passengers will have to face construction of the airport of terminal one inside and out, which the administration will have to increase security personnel to protect passenger safety.
The whole project was proposed back in 1999, but dragged out until now; it is still a long way until we'll see the brand new Taoyuan international airport
