Gender Health Survey
A recent survey shows that chronic diseases in Taiwan are more frequently found in men than in women, yet Taiwanese men are more likely to "feel healthy" than their female counterparts. Experts say it's time for men to be realistic and start taking better care of their health.

12-year-old girl surnamed Ke is worried about her father's health. 40-year-old Mr. Ke is always busy at work and doesn't like to exercise. He likes to eat a lot and is now weighing over 90 kilograms, with a waistline 9 centimeters more than the standard value.
Even when he's not feeling well, he refuses to see a doctor. In fact, many men are not conscious about their health like Mr.Ke.
According to the health survey of gender health conducted by Bureau of Health Promotion, the prevalance rate of high blood pressure, high blood sugar and high cholesterol among men is way higher than among women.
The chances of having chronic lower airway disease for men are 2.9 times that of women.
Other occurence rates such as accidents, chronic liver disease and suicide, are twice of that of women as well.
Overweight men with a waistline of over 90 centimeters or 35.5 inches are more likely to come down with chronic disease.
For people with these signs, they are suggested to eat simple and light meals and do health check-ups regularly to avoid worsening any health issues they might have.
