BOY BAND CRAZE BACK AGAIN?
Someone has a good eye for bringing back the boy band sounds, more than a decade later after the domination of the Backstreet Boys and N'Sync on the music charts.
British teen pop The Wanted, consisted of Tom, Max, Siva, Nathan and Jay, is riding the wave of the popularity of other boy bands, as they are debuting their self-titled EP this week in the States.
Jay McGuiness: "We accept that a lot of young teenage or into-their-20s girls do like us, but we respect their musical choice as much as we respect a 50-year-old dude because why does anyone think their musical taste is less relevant? We embrace the boy band side, and we embrace the music side, it all comes together in the end."
Scooter Braun, who is also partly responsible for Justin Bieber's fame, believes that there is always a market for stars that are true to their fans.
Scooter Braun: "It's funny because I used to be a party promoter the last time boy bands were huge, and I knew a lot of those guys, and they like to party and drink and do all that stuff too, but they always had to hide it, and I think it's refreshing to see a boy band that doesn't hide it and just doesn't care."
The Wanted is taking a more adult approach than other boy bands with wilder music videos. Just check out their single, "Glad You Came," which made it to the number three spot in the U.S.
These up-and-coming stars are set to tour the U.S. and the UK in the coming months, including a gig in the Olympic Torch Relay celebrations.
