FANS GOING CRAZY FOR "ONE DIRECTION"
Thousands of screaming teenage fans stood outside Channel Seven's studios in Sydney to see British boy band One Direction as they prepare to kick off their Australian tour. The group appeared on the Network's breakfast show, "Sunrise" and waved to excited fans.
The British-Irish boy band shot to fame after performing and coming third on the UK series of the X Factor in 2010. In September 2011, they released their debut single, "What Makes You Beautiful," which not only peaked at number one in the UK and several countries but also won the award for Best British Single at the 2012 BRIT Awards. Their first album, "Up All Night," which was released two months later, debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart, and at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200, making One Direction the first UK group in history to debut at number one with their first album.
Upon hearing that some of the fans slept the night outside the studios, Tomlinson appreciated fans' support while asking them to watch out for safety."I think it just shows how incredible dedicated our fans are and it's just amazing for us, you know we doing something that we love and to appreciated for that is amazing. All I would say that is you know is that we always want people to stay safe and you know, don't take any risks,"
Horan said he can't believe they are being compared to bands like the Beatles and the Stones."We weren't old enough to be around at the time but everyone knows the Beatles and everyone knows the Monkeys everyone knows the Stones and stuff so, you know people always say like there's, like you just said there like putting us in that category. Like when people say that to us we kind of like, kind of brush it off, cause it seems like such a wild statement to be compared to the Beatles and stuff, so we are very happy to be what we are doing and we've all got very supportive families and great fans so we are very happy."
FANS GOING CRAZY FOR "ONE DIRECTION"One Direction is in Australia for four performances before heading to New Zealand for three performances.
