JASON WU GETS PERSONAL WITH NEW DESIGNS
Taiwan-born designer Jason Wu tapped into his own roots and created his 2012 highly personal Chinese-influenced collection. His ideas can be seen as an army of powerful women struts down the catwalk in bold reds and military greens, out of the studded fortress doors, at an off-site venue for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York on Friday.
Jason Wu: "It's a picture of a very strong woman. She's fierce, she's strong and she's a warrior,"
Making spot-on modern clothing for strong women isn't new to Wu, who became a household name, and a hot commodity after designing First Lady Michelle Obama's inaugural gown in 2008. About 90 designers are scheduled to showcase their Fall 2012 works at the Fashion Week, which will continue through Thursday in Lincoln Center and other venues around the Big Apple.
