BUYING WARHOL'S PRINT FOR GOOD CAUSE
Actress Sandra Bullock helps shine a light on AIDS research. The Oscar winning star attended a gala honoring The American Foundation for AIDS Research's work. The event included a live auction of exclusive luxury items, and special performances by Sinead O'Connor and Deborah Harry.
Deborah Harry: "To my friends and the public in general, I think they really appreciate it when people in entertainment stand up for an important cause. It makes it relevant and so many lives have been touched and ruined. For me on a very personal level and for everyone else." A special remembrance was made to late actress Elizabeth Taylor. amfAR CEO Kevin Robert Frost says Taylor worked hard to champion the fight against AIDS.
Kevin Robert (amfAR ceo) : "You know it is almost impossible to say how important Elizabeth Taylor was in the fight against AIDS. She was the first to speak out, she was the first to stand up and challenge the way we thought about AIDS, the way we thought about this epidemic." amfAR is one of the world's leading nonprofit organizations dedicated to AIDS research, prevention and education.
