The celebrities are speaking out about their personal experience in dealing with 911 attacks, in marking the 10th anniversary of one of the greatest tragedies in the U.S this past Sunday, which killed nearly 3,000 people. People in every corner of the world hit the pause button on their busy lives for a slight moment on September 11th to remember the victims and to pay tribute to those who lost their lives to save others. Award-winning actress Kate Winslet speaks about her first reaction when she heard about it, while shopping in London. I received a phone call from a friend who was in New York and was actually on their way to JFK to get on a plane, and was driving through everything as it was happening in the back of a cab, so that was how I heard it, through somebody that I knew who was in the city, so yes, I do absolutely remember where I was, looking for lampshades in a department store. Crazy." Canadian actor Ryan Gosling, who was in his homeland at the time, recalls what it was like for him. My memory of that day was surreal because I was at the Toronto film festival, which, you know, was close but so far away, and my sister was in New York so it was a really scary time for me and just surreal walking around the streets. You know, and everybody just stopped being these characters that they were playing, and they all just became people who were worried about people that they knew, and it's hard to explain but kind of like a nightmare, you know. Back at home in New York City, actor Paul Giamatti and Philip Seymour Hoffman speak about how the pain will always be there. "I think everybody were very quick to say they processed it, I mean, as much of a cliché it is to say it was a catastrophic change for people, but I don't know that people have fully, completely dealt with. "I live in Manhattan, I was there that morning, I live about a mile away from where it happened, so I think there's a personal remembrance of that, that's pretty hard to shake. You really thought the world was, something was, was changed for good, for ever, and I think that's true." R&B singer Ne-Yo and rapper Busta Rhymes didn't forget to give some encouraging words on the 10th anniversary of 911. I didn't lose anybody in 9/11 but I know a lot of people did. It really doesn't even feel like it's been 10 years, man, that's crazy to me. But, you know, that's what the human spirit is, we take bumps and bruises and we fall but we get back up and we keep pushing and we're still here today, stronger than ever." "I mean, it hit home because I'm from New York, number one, number two, I got a couple of friends there that actually been directly affected, you know. We've been able to still show our resilience and our endurance as a city, as a people, coming together and representing and remembering the lives of the ones that we lost, is such a beautiful thing to know that we're not celebrating their loss but we're celebrating their lives".
