TSAI CALLS FOR DPP UNITY
Chairperson Tsai Ing-wen has been under fire recently from former vice-president Annette Lu over a dispute on the primary system. Tsai responded yesterday by urging the party to unite at this critical time, and to stop stirring up internal conflicts that will hurt the DPP's overall interests.
DPP confirmed its plan that the presidential primary would be conducted through polling public opinions.
This has infuriated former vice president Annette Lu who supported that the paying party members' voting results should be considered.
She criticized at the party central for several times and targeted at DPP chairperson Tsai Ing-wen, hinting that Tsai intends to run despite the party's losses in the special five municipality elections.
Legislators are worried that it may affect the party's unity.
Despite the call for unity, it's said that DPP presidential hopeful Su Jen-chang and Tsai Ing-wen are having some sort of complex against each other.
Tsai personally sat through the caucus meeting of DPP and said she would do everything she can to protect the party through the primary process.
Tsai made a rare speech before being asked by media, stressing for party unity in an effort to put out fire of more criticism on the complex issues as they may become baggages in DPP's future elections.
