Regarding Fubons acquisition bid of Kbro, Taiwan's biggest cable TV operator, the NCC said that it has decided to collect further opinions from experts and the public before reaching a final decision on whether or not to approve it.

Fubon Groups first department store has just opened, making it a successful first step into retail from home shopping.

And now, this giant corporation is ready for another move into the media by going through Taiwan Mobile to buy out Kbro, who owns 12 TV networks and millions of subscribers.

However, this deal is controversial since the main shareholder of Fubon is Taipei City Hall, there is the criticism that it the government may have its involvement or power over the media.

Therefore, the NCC denied this deal at first, but after Daniel Tsai, the chairman of Fubon created Da-fu Media and used it for the buyout deal instead, the NCC is having second thoughts and may pass this deal during this week.

Then after a three-hour long discussion, the NCC finally passed the deal for now.

The NCC requests for a detailed timeline for its digital TV plan and execution dates from Fubon, then after getting the operating right, there must also be a fair channel for the download and upload mechanism.

Also, there should be a commitment of not having any news or financial channels any time soon in order to clear all suspicions of monopolizing the market,

which is one of the biggest criticisms since Fubon has one-third of the cable TV users in Taiwan.

With all these criticisms and doubts from the public, Daniel Tsai has also made his comment on behalf of the company.

According to Tsai, this company will be devoted into producing high quality, homegrown TV network and hopes that it will become the leader in digital convergence in Taiwan.

However, after getting much criticism and oppositional voices from the public, the NCC has decided to suspend this NT$36b deal right now until further notice.
